"Stage
Door" by Frank Braccia is a "songwriter" CD that highlights the
acoustic side of gentle rock and blues. Very subtle, scaled-back
production leaves the songs open to listener interpretation, and
leaves space for Frank's soulfoul vocal expression. At first listen,
I was drawn in to the mix, by the use of percussion in place of
the conventional "drum kit" approach. The lack of hard-hitting drums
leaves you more able to experience the emotion in the vocals, and
the beautiful tones throughout the CD. Tracks (3) "Crossroad", and
(4) "Two time zones away" are my favorite on "Stage Door". Braccia
shines both vocally and with his acoustic guitar, with some nice
electric guitar and harmonica work thrown in on these cuts as well.
This is a well conceived and well-crafted CD, I can imagine he puts
on an enjoyable live show, as well. It feels almost like you are
just sitting in your living room with Frank and his friends on "Stage
Door". I am looking forward to future efforts.
